How do Calla slippers offer relief for bunions?

Calla house slippers are designed to gently accommodate bunions, not squeeze them.
The wider toe box and soft stretch lining gently cushion your bunion without pressure or pinching, while the supportive sole helps align your feet naturally.
The result? Less pain, less strain, and all-day ease - even on your quietest days at home.
Best slippers for bunions? We think so. But they're also perfect if you have flat feet, heel pain, or hammer toes.
If you have a severe bunion, we recommend upsizing.
If you’re unsure about your size or fit, our team is always happy to help at hello@callashoes.co.uk. Or alternatively see our measurement guide.
FAQs
Are these slippers wide fit?
Yes, Calla slippers are crafted with a naturally wide fit - up to an EE width, as well as a wide toe box.
We understand that comfort starts with space. Our design offers extra volume across the toe area without feeling bulky, so your foot sits comfortably aligned and supported.
The mule slipper design also means you aren't restricted at the back of the shoe.
If you require EEE fit, we recommend you choose one size up. See the measurement guides on the product page for more info.
What slippers do podiatrists recommend?

Podiatrists recommend slippers that provide arch support, cushioning, and room for natural foot movement - all features built into every Calla slipper.
Unlike flat, unsupportive styles, our Ember Slippers help maintain healthy alignment and relieve joint pressure. They’re designed in consultation with foot specialists and shaped by years of comfort-led craftsmanship.
Do orthopaedic slippers work?
They can - when designed thoughtfully. Orthopaedic slippers work by supporting your foot’s natural arch and reducing pressure on sensitive areas. At Calla, we take that principle and add elegance: our slippers combine orthopaedic-grade comfort with refined materials and timeless design, so you can feel supported and stylish at once.
What should I wear around the house with plantar fasciitis?
Choose slippers with arch support, cushioned soles, and shock absorption - like our Ember collection.
Going barefoot or wearing unsupportive slippers can aggravate plantar fasciitis. Ember helps distribute weight evenly and reduce heel strain, making every step at home softer and more supported.
What slippers are best for high arches?
Slippers with built-in arch support and a contoured insole - like the Ember Slippers - are best for high arches.
Our supportive footbed cradles the arch while the soft suede upper and cushioned lining reduce fatigue. They’re the perfect pairing of comfort and structure for feet that need gentle lift.
Conversely, they also help add support if you suffer from flat feet.
Can you wear Calla slippers while working at a stand up desk?

Absolutely - as long as your slippers provide proper support.
The Ember Slippers feature a cushioned sole and mild arch contour, helping to reduce fatigue during long hours standing. The durable outsole also makes them suitable for light indoor movement, so you can stay comfortable through every task.
Do normal slippers make bunions worse?
Sadly, many do.
Standard slippers are often too narrow and lack support, which can irritate bunions and worsen discomfort over time.
Calla slippers are made differently - with soft stretch materials, extra toe room, and gentle support where your feet need it most. They’re slippers that care for your bunions, not aggravate them.
We also design shoes for bunions, see our range here.
Will my swollen feet fit them?
Most likely, yes - our slippers are crafted to adapt to swelling and natural changes in your feet throughout the day.
The soft stretch lining and roomy toe box help relieve tightness, while cushioned insoles support your arches without constriction.
For very swollen or EEE-width feet, we suggest sizing up for the perfect balance of comfort and ease.
